Who We Are
The Adeke Foundation was born out of a daughter’s promise and a mother’s sacrifice. My mother spent her life at a sewing machine, the rhythmic hum of the needle providing the soundtrack to my childhood. To support my father in raising us, she poured her physical health into every garment, eventually developing severe arthritis that took away her ability to sew.
Though her hands can no longer guide fabric through a machine, her spirit remains the architect of my journey. As a seamstress and a farmer herself, she understood a fundamental truth: A skill is the only thing that can never be taken away from you.
I launched the Adeke Foundation to honor her legacy. Based in North Eastern Uganda, we are a Community Based Organization (CBO) dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable youth, teenage mothers, and widows—the very women who mirror my mother’s resilience but lack her opportunities.
Our Integrated Approach
We believe that rural poverty requires a multi-dimensional solution. We don't just provide tools; we provide a future through two primary pillars:
-
The Artisanal Pillar: We skill women in professional tailoring and garment construction, moving them from subsistence to craftsmanship.
-
The Agrarian Pillar: In partnership with the KOA Multipurpose Cooperative Association Ltd and the Kapelebyong District, we introduce modern, sustainable farming techniques to traditional farming families.
At the Adeke Foundation, we are turning my mother’s "heart-work" into a scalable model for economic dignity, building a future where every "stitch" contributes to independence.
