ADEKE FOUNDATION

The Adeke Foundation, founded by Ms. Karenhappuch Ibiara, aims to empower young women in northeastern Uganda by providing comprehensive tailoring and crafts training to teenage mothers, orphaned girls, and vulnerable young girls in remote districts. Inspired by the legacy of Mrs. Oculi Janet Priscilla Adeke, the foundation seeks to foster economic independence, self-confidence, and purpose in these young women, helping them overcome adversity and build sustainable livelihoods through education and skills training.

BINA - Ethiopia

Ibiara has been offering capacity building to this project by bbw international that offers young people practice-oriented vocational training in cooperation with the Ethiopian partner Don Bosco in the capital Addis Abeba. In addition to the vocational training itself, bbw provides support in skills assessment prior to the start of the training as well as follow-up support and job placement for the trainees after they finished the training courses.

UREPP is a project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development. It is implemented by Bildungswerk der Bayerischen Wirtschaft (bbw) gGmbH together with two vocational schools in Uganda.

At Nakawa VTC in Kampala and St. Simon Peter’s VTC in Hoima, UREPP offers short courses in different vocational trades (see list below). After three months of training, UREPP students can graduate with a certificate from DIT, the national Directorate of Industrial Training in Uganda. After graduation, the project teams assist students in finding internships or job opportunities. UREPP also supports young entrepreneurs. If a student wants to start his or her own business, guidance and support during the start-up period is offered.
